If you have this problem in the future, there are a few workarounds for this.

If the problem is caused by regional differences, such as attempting to connect to a regional server far away from your own, using a VPN might help.
Obviously, higher quality internet will help, as can contacting your ISP to see if a blockage on their end is causing this problem.
Using the game's Auto function, while not ideal for combat and target selection, will prevent you from effectively "lagging" and experiencing this problem. Though you may still SEE the problem, since the game takes over, you should execute your mysteries immediately upon round start.
