Question about the microtransactions. I was looking at some of the prices and it seems insane. Like the Infinite Tsukoyomi event. The cheapest thing is 25,000 ingots and 5000 ingots cost 1000 kreds. 1000 kreds costs $100. So that's a $500 item, and the other things in that event are even more expensive. So do people actually drop $500 on this game? Or is there a way to be smart about it?

Are the monthly cards worth it? What about Naruto's Froggy? These seem to be mechanics that turn ingots into even more coupons, but I'm afraid to let go of the few ingots I have. Do they sometimes have sales on stuff? So maybe I should wait for a sale to pay $ for something?

I mean in the normal world a new game costs $60 and a monthly subscription to a AAA quality MMO costs $15 a month. Naruto Online's price point just seems off the wall.

  • You haven't played these games before haven't you? This type of business model has been going on for over a decade.

These gaming companies target whales who is capable of spending more than the average player. The pricing is insane for the average player but since the expected demand for these characters from whales still continue, companies like Oasis will continue to price it as such.

Well I've played other P2W games. Star Trek Online and Stronghold Kingdoms. I dropped a fair share of $ in both. Probably too much. But both of these games tried to present themselves in such a way that they weren't P2W. If you accused them of being P2W you were treated like a bad person who said a naughty word. Even in Stronghold Kingdoms where it was possible for a rich player to build a huge stone castle on the first day a server opened, they tried their best to put up a front of "Our game has fair PvP and can be enjoyed by everybody". Almost everyone could afford a card pack. There were no $500 items.

I'm just a little shocked that here in Naruto Online it seems to be a different mentality. "Yes our game is P2W. This is a $500 item. Our sales model targets the whales exclusively."

I was just curious of there's a way to get the good stuff without dropping all that $. Or if that's really just how it is here. I've only been playing this a few days so I don't know.

It reminds me of the EVE Online monocle. Don't know if there are any EVE players here?
