I am on Mac OS Mojave 10.

So I had a folder on my usb * called 'photos', which I was trying to move into my do*ents, where there was also another folder called 'photos'. It then said 'do you want to overwrite this folder', I accidentally pressed yes, so the folder in do*ents called photos (of which I believe i have only one version) is now gone....

I am trying to undo... and have just learnt when you overwrite a folder this is not like deletion. It doesn't go into the *.

Time machine is not something i've used before so when I open the app it tells me there is only 'today', and there appears to be no record of the photos folder that I lost, that was in do*ents.

Who knows any other ways to restore? ?? !! Would be extremely grateful as this folder has many important photos and memories... thank you.P.S. I know I am incredibly * for not having backups
