2,000 cave keys spent during a rebate event doesn't amount to a lvl 12 rune now (can someone confirm the actual math for me here) so it'll take MULTIPLE maxed cave key events to upgrade from level 12 to 13 runes and even more to go from 13 to 14.

Yeah thats right. you need like 2 full rebates worth of cave keys to upgrade to level 12 runes. So it will only get exponentially more expensive to upgrade to level 14 runes.
