Problem with that passive is they lose Bloodthirsty, the one and only reason that people fear Lightning.

Your damage as a fire main should easily exceed anything Lightning can manage, especially with those lengthy combos of doom with Tobi whose chase does absurd amounts of damage (more than most jutsu).

The only thing Lightning mains are good at is Survival. Everywhere else your Fire main is superior.

  • Bloodthirsty is nice, but do they need it, if they use a Mystery-Into-Combo based team? Nope. I fear lightning because they can acupuncture me round 1 (which already hits like a truck) and then combo with another ninja round 2, while still doing a decent amount of damage from their standards (once they use their mystery, their standard will go after the lowest HP target without a Taunt tank).

Tobi indeed does an absurd amount of damage, but it's not enough to kill a target without the extra damage from Genjutsu's Ignite effect. Then again, I'm running GNW Neji, Kakashi, Tobi (along with Fire main's sealing jutsu) as a more control team. So of course, I would get countered by a immune to debuff passive.

Also, having 1 lightning main in your team during Group Instance or Group War is amazing for their lifesteal buff and clone-clearing. In 1v1, I am of course Fire-biased, but I believe no main is completely superior in all aspects compared to others. It comes down to lineups and playstyles.
It comes down to Mirrors.

Lightning has Kurenai for that. Sometimes Kakashi Beheading Sword or Ningendo.

Mirrors and sleep autos defeat much of the strategy that the game surrounds itself with, preventing actions that your team might deem necessary to be offensive. The result is that Mirrors are in virtually every team at this point and the ones that aren't using them either don't care about conditions at all or have ludicrously high Initiative and enough stats to one-combo any threat standing before them.

  • Mirror-ing and Sleep doesn't work the first 2 rounds against Lightning if they run that passive :L. They can wait until I reflect any debuff Round 1, before using their Acupuncture on whoever, which would cripple my options Round 2. Also, they c*so just run Gakido as well to remove debuffs.

All they need is to stack initiative on their Move 1 position combo starter. Even if my Tobi gets a combo off, it usually isn't enough to kill someone at equal or higher power.
That acupuncture passive is countered by another Fire passive and sacrifices a combo starter or extra attacks. You're already nerfing Lightning's damage by taking the condition immune passive, which only applies to THREE ninja on your team and only if they are swordsmen, yet you want to nerf their damage even further by removing a possible combo. Sure they can attack the lowest health still... once.

This is part of the reason I stress that Lightning becomes less offensive at higher levels and more of a control-style assassin that spams acupuncture or paralysis. The issue with this of course being that it's an Attack-based aggressor with weak defense against the majority of chases and jutsu in the game, not a mirror-guarded cleansing wizard with a 0-cost immobile-causing interrupt and high ninjutsu/resistance. Fire mains can stop you not just from using a jutsu next turn but from attacking at all or using defense passives.

The amount of damage a Fire main can deal on Kyuubi with a two use jutsu and the power of ninjutsu scaling is obscene. Lightning can muster up similar strengths with Lightning Armor but it costs you more time in the process. That dragon jutsu is just a single use 30k damage that can be repeated on the following turn, quick and painless with a 10-hit combo trigger on top of it all. It really isn't a difficult call to say stay away from Midnight unless you favor the playstyle over the power (or like me you are just waiting for the updated passives that fix everything).
