I think the Group Hide And Seek idea is pretty cool. I'd love to run around through the maps, haha. ;P The only time i generally do, is for summons, main plot and chase missions.
There could be a certain time for this event, and it would help with group contribution, and maybe there could be puzzles that you must figure out in order to pass an obstacle? (just saying I loved the puzzle event. I like puzzles, haha.) And during that time, group members can team up in groups of 2 or 3 to find others, who can set some traps? (We're ninjas, geez. I'm sure we can get out some traps if we fall in, right?)
You can interact with the environment to move rocks(like with Guy's rubble skill) or conceal yourself within trees to hide oneself. Having certain ninjas with you(your 7 slots) can help you hide more effectively. (Such as having Tojutsus to help better detect traps, or being part of a certain village to hide better in certain places? After all, a Konoha ninja could hide better in Land of Fire better than a Suna ninja could, hypothetically speaking.)
The system would chose a seeker(or seekers, because of groups), and then they would look for others. Hiders may not be in groups. There would be a list of people participating and whoever is hiding must try their best to avoid being caught (maybe they can change hiding spots(limited amount of times) when the seeker(s) aren't in vicinity?).
People will have points in which will rank them. The point system may work like this: you start with an initial amount of points, and whenever you're found you lose them. And the person with most points will get a little more rewards then everyone else? Or if this point system is weird, we can go by normal rules, last person to be found gets more rewards, but everyone still gets rewards?
To avoid cheating, private chat cannot be used by group members in same group, and you may not reveal another person's hiding place. I dunno how this'll work. Maybe during this time, if you are participating, there is a special tab of chat, and you cannot go in group chat?
Dang. So many ideas. As you can see, I really do love this idea, haha.
