Gear does matter in Arena unfortunately.
To answer your question, Lightning and Fire usually go first against Earth if you're facing them in Survival or if both of you have the same initiative + position.

  • well it wasnt just the first attack earths mystery always beat mine also my refinements on main char are exactly the same as his but his battle armor is higher could that be it?
Most likely since battle armor increases initiative.
