He's there for the sole purpose of attacking and igniting. But your point is right, he can be easily killed even by f2p teams such as kushimaru blitz and 3rd raikage blitz. Well if you want to make him tankier, you c*e your magatamas, charms, refines, runes and etc. In eight inner gates, improve his critical, injury, resistance, defense, control and damage reduction. You c*so shield him or apply some healers. If you're still not satisfied you can wait for his SB. There are many options, but tbh I also think that he should be more defensive.

Edo Deidara even though not in meta can still be used efficiently. I use Deidara - EM - Jinpachi - Edo Sasori line up if I use him. With immunity talent of EM you can be safe against LM acupuncture for your mystery as well as anothet unit from your line up. You have shields in this team which will absorb most of the damage round 1 if your opponent doesn't have too high bp. As far for dodgers you can wait round 2 if they have shisui or a cc ninja p1 , then use jinpa to clear and bait the dodge and use your edo deidara. If jinpa is controlled simply use sasori to clear and repeat the above. Edo Deidara if stacked cannot be killed that easily so considering all of this you can still win with him vs current meta.

But that just sounds like a mere mid - late team. You know it's depended on sasori's buff. Can be easily defeated by Han roshi team, masked man, anbu itachi shisui team and by many more. If we can't create a meta, at least an end game team by using edo dei?

Too many edo hiruzen/agk konan/move 1 shark bomb AF out there for him to work fine right now. The team suggested by the first reply (edo deidara, earth main, sasori, jinpachi or the other team with water main and madara 5ks) gets full countered at comparable power by a full f2p team, even with lower initiative, like: azure fang, han, itachi full sb, kureni/hanzo/gakido/tsunade sannin war that runs shark bomb and koh because after round 1 you are constantly under chaos and with no chakra and that team is not strong enough to kill you at comparable power in round 1 (deidara needs to stack)

He is a character just meant to do damage, nothing more. Everything has a counter, your best bet is to run him with Jigokudo/Jinpachi or Jigokudo/Sailor Sakura if you're so worried about him being CC'd.

Talents: 32443, summon: monkey king, summon mystery: ninja dog or pakkun.

100 chakra almost granted in round 1 before konan move (60 granted), healing ready in round 1 and 3 eventually. Deidara for round 2, kisame eventually for round 1 or 2.

The main point of this distribution is the fact they cannot ignore deidara, so 1 cc has to go to him and if you face 2 ccs teams you just heal them or interrupt them. Even if deidara dies here konan + main + kisame alone are enough to make you fearsome.

I have edo deidara and only use him in ranked battle. I used to play with him a lot but in the current meta, he is not that great anymore. He is so weak against immunity teams and dodge teams. Even deidara has higher initiative is useless if the enemy dodges his high damage mystery. Water-jinpachi-madara5k-edodeidara is the best meta for him right now to address all your problem. Jinpachi and main heal will keep him alive and tobi removes immunity.
