Personally, I prefer it the way it currently is. At the moment things like Treasured Tools are not bound to P1 etc. This makes it annoying when you need to check between fights in events like Matsuri/Arena, to make sure the tool did not float off to a different ninja/slot, I'd hate for that to happen with the 8 Gates Runes too.
