The right to use copyrighted material is ba
sed on the duration of the agreement. Tencent, the one who developed Naruto Online, probably decided not to renew the license for those designs, which means they had to change the designs to ones ba sed from the main series. Since multiple servers have different start dates and with both germany and our server having the changes after the 5.0 update, there might be a clause in the agreement which affects all of the other servers and when it changes ba sed on the progress of the server.
I'm salty about the change only because I really liked the design but no I don't want refund, some people may want and that's what I was referring to.
I don't understand much about the legal aspects and copyright stuff but you're basically saying that each design has a separate license or something right?
Anyway, another solution that I would propose is to make a contest or something that we players could participate and add the winner design instead of the ugly cloak, whaddya think?

Pretty much. The main series has a different license compared to designs from video games (I'm talking about the Ninja storm series) and movies. Usually the main series will have a longer term compared to other designs.
Due to this, Tencent is likely not going to make an agreement with Bandai if a change the designs just because a few don't like it. There's little incentive on their part to do so. Any changes that do happen will effect the China server first and players that watch youtube will end up telling people here who don't know about China.
