Auto is your best bet to combat delay. You can put auto before your Konan comboes if you don't have other mysteries to use this round. I noticed that delay is especially bad when I'm facing hokage Minato. And I've experienced the thing you're describing a few times (interrupting pos 1 with pos 2), so you're not alone in this...

this is caused by summons mysterys, the summon mystery and the mains jutsu are connected and you can not cast anything between them, however, the summon mystery itself is not classified as part of the mains jutsu, thus if you try to cast a jutsu during the summon mystery part, youl still be able to cast it and will not be met with the warning of you cant do that at this time, this causes an issue of wasting jutsus because of how the game treats a summon mystery, i have included a link to a youtube video where this occurs below

If you think thats bad let me tell you how on a fight the delay went on for 40 seconds and more. I started a skill on pos 1, both my pos 1 and his did the standart attacks and then both our pos 2 did proc full combos ( 8 chases for me and 6 on him). At this point even the guy had given up on stopping my pos 1 but then the pos 3 ninjas both atked and he clicked the interupt skill on his pos 2 and interupted my pos 1. This all happened on round 2 i had a pos 1 jonin minato and he had a pos 2 hokage minato. Alt+F4'd real quick lol...
