My rank was upgraded from 7 or 8 to 1 so i think it's like refines...it's impossible to buy a lot of medium thread for level 3-4

It's way more expensive than refinement. Rank 4-5 alone is 100 tries maximum depending on rng and it's 5 thread per try so if you have the worst possible luck, it will cost you up to 19k ingots just to go from 4 to 5 ;P
