So... Is this game * P2W? Every update tells me it is.

From my experience, the English games are actually more stingy.
If you've ever played Brave Frontier JP vs Global, you'd know what I mean.

I don't mind some P2W, but when they're outright selling a Pain 2 weeks into server that does 2 party-wide buff wipes and immunity on Mystery, it just feels hopeless. Especially when they design the event to cap you at 77 keys, when you need around 200. The 20 refines were nice, but they capped it at 20. :|

It's especially relevant when the game seems very focused on PVP. So, I was just wondering what people's experience is. If it's just pay to advance quicker, that's fine. I don't mind the extra work.

  • I don't understand why some people are complaining so much about * p2w. In my opinion difference in rewards from ranked battle etc, between top and lower places isn't that great. It's most likely about getting ninjas faster, but still I wouldn't call it * p2w, it's quite reasonable. Check for example similar type of game but with one piece...there is huge difference between p2w and f2p, not here. + You can't make game purely for free, servers, emplyees etc cost $
My main concern is the difficulty of gaining coupons, the garbage rates and Ninja's being outright sold. The recent event made it impossible to get either ninja. It cost around 1.25k ingots to get 1. Granted, maybe you have saved up 1k coupons (then you don't have refined gear).

For instance, my server has been live roughly 2-3 weeks. There's already an Earth with:

Pain - Ningendo
Pain - Shurado
Pain - Gakido

He also has Asuma Windblade in reserves.

I'm not saying it's currently P2W, but it's showing dangerous signs. If you think you can beat that when all of his units have +125 refine (some in the 200s) already, I'd be interested to know how. Can we get the good units from seals? Maybe. I know from tests, it's taken people about 5 sets of 10 to get even one good ninja.

Almost all of the rewards are dispersed based off of PVP as well. Fortunately, we don't have many big spenders, but they're easily stomping the rest of the server. Things like the Gaara recharge event was fair. $4 for the ninja is much more doable and will incite me, personally, to spend. Rather than throwing $80 at a game and getting 3 sets of Kakashi fragments. Even the Great Ninja Wars have very limited payouts and no control beyond the Group leader to ensure rewards.

If they start releasing more good units, like Kisame, in the other shops then I can see how long-term it'd balance out.
tl;dr Events should allow ninjas for F2Ps, more access to coupons (beyond those milestones) and better rates/cheaper prices.

Let me re-iterate: It's not * P2W yet, that I've seen. It's showing signs of it. Although the person spending a good amount of money has literally not lost a fight with his three pains. It's a fun game; I want it to stay that way. There's a big difference between $20 and $4.

Yes, if you sign in literally every day for a month, you can get 250 coupons. Miss even once and you're down to 150. Oddly enough, that's about $1 worth if you consider 50 ingots = $1, which can be spun for anywhere to 20/30/50 coupons. Yes, you can get roughly 15 coupons from the twice a week WB.

I'll give them credit for this Hanzo attacks event and the puzzles (though the latters reward is very skimpy...). They're both fun at least. At first I was frustrated with Hanzo's difficulty on even easy, but it's do-able once you learn how to handle it's unique content. If it stays, I'll enjoy this event. It's similar to the Ninja Exam, which is what we need more of.

Suggestion: Add something similar to Ninja Exam/Hanzo where we can get daily coupons. Maybe format it after Group Instances? I'm thinking ahead to when we've hit cap and there's no more sub-plots left.
