L is a change, that simultaneously comes with upgrade on one ability and downgrade on the other. Upgraded ability gets L+[number], while downgraded gets L-[number]. You always get them in pairs.

X is normal but upgraded in some way, while Y is a changed skill in comparison to the original X one.
