I've had quite a few fights in Sage end about a second before Sage does and even though I saw the victory screen and everything, it has not given me points or given any indication that the fight counted.

There have been scenarios in which I have just missed out on a better placing because of this, it's a little silly. But at the same time it's pretty nice when you encounter someone you can't beat and Sage ends before they can ruin your streak, so it's a double edged sword.
