1＃ Go ToIn the Great Ninja War, you can either enter the battle field or "Cheer on". Now, what does that *on do exactly, does it help the members in the battle field?
also, If someone cheers on, does that count as a participation? Can I distribute gifts to those that cheered, or only those that actually entered the battle field?

Its only use is so that the player can receive a part of the participation reward for the round (the group contribution and coin)
It provides no benefit and does not qualify player for the packs.
Generally speaking, it's not used. But for player who are still on probation (recently left another group to join yours) or simply missed the time for joining the round, this is their only option to get something. Note that cheer can be done until the fight is over, which is after the round start, so late-arrivals c*e it.

It's for if you just joined a group (and as such can't participate) or if you are late to war. This way, you get a few group points (300?) even though you missed the fight.

Its 500 group points.
As been said previously, it is mostly useless unless you just joined a group.
Many mechanics in the game are geared towards very large server population (i.e top 50 or 100 get to plunder, cheer for when there are more than 54 players in a team fighting in GNW, etc.). Unfortunately the huge number of new servers and the constant depopulation of older ones make those mechanics useless.
