this is my Hokage Minato outfit, its made out of nothing but paper, cardboard, paint and ductape, i will post some of the steps as well~ please be gentle with me
adding hair as a closer image for poor camera quality, sorry for that, it was very hard to take pictures of myself so i had to use video....
will put some of the steps in my second post if anyones curious about its creation~
this entire cosplay was made using materials i had around the home, nothing purchased, its made purely of paper from lined notebook, duct tape, paints from a hobby of mine, and the jonin vest uses cardboard for some of the flashings to make it look more solid, it would of been so much easier if i had glue.... god im a derp monkey
first off, i started off with sheets of paper and used ductape them together to get the ba
took about an hour 20 to get to this point, had to redo the sleeves a bit and had to extend the ba
at this point i made the headband, its 2 pieces of black ductape stuck to eachother painted blue with a piece of paper stuck to it using duct tape folded on itself to hold it down, i then painted it silver and hand drew the symbol(i think its the wrong way around.... *crys* (go* i wish i got glue)
after this i started on the fleshing out details, the first being the text to try and make the back look a little more satisfying, this is the original text concept
this is the finished ba
this is the finished result of the text, im actually most satisfied with this part of the cosplay tbh.... i feel like i got the fluidic movement of the characters without being to static
this is them put against the back of the coat, i think it looks nice atleast....
after this i started fleshing out the rest, i started with a pencil line on the flames then painting them with the same red as the characters, this was done by trying to copy them from a model i own of him.... i think the flames are the second best part... sorry all you foot haters out there!!!
finished the flames and i think it looks really satisfying even if its not perfect, this is the back first then the front with flames
in the meantime i added a neck chain, its a piece of cut cable cut and then painted brown
heres how it looks on... felt it looked a little plain so decided to make a jonin vest under it!
after this is tarted work on the vest to go under it and it was all ba
the original idea of the vest was to try and make it like the cloak but without arms, but when i tried thati t didnt look nice enough, so i put cardboard to try make the shoulder pads a little thicker...
after htis, i took cardboard added 2 cardboard boxes to the front covered them in paper to fit the rest of the design and then painted the entire thing green its patchy.. but yea...
this is how it looked on...
t
it looked a little plain so i used some folded paper to add some thickness to the bottom of the vest and drew some lines on the stiching parts to make it look a little more realistic.. after this i took 2 pieces of cardboard and taped them under the vest to make a zipper, painted them white and taped them from behidn so it could stay closed while wearing it... looks like this on the fly, im a *erfly man!
this is what it looked like before id taped the middle together, i think this looks a lot more satisfying
this was the original concept of the hair, it was ba
and thats the story of my Minato cosplay and how it was made!!! thanks for reading everyone and hope you enjoyed! budget cosplay, total cost of materials used £0.39, i think it came out quite well personally, overall the entire affair took about 6 hours because im really terrible with craftmanship... i hope to be able to make a serious one using something other then paper at some point... but im kind of hard for money atm~ so i did the best i could with what was available!
Wow dude, stellar work! O.O
I envy the persistance to continue doing sth like that after an hour, yet you say it took 6... really nice work xD
my brushes are small so painting large areas is time consuming, and i have pretty bad fine motor controls so the fleshings and patterning took way longer then it should of... a normal person could probably do it in 3 hours easy
