Though combos would still work, as they both chase high float and cause knockdown I believe. It would be quite a downgrade, with the lack of the kk gaara mystery and various other things like a hit combo.

I see, do you have any suggestions for the kind of lineup that uses sage naruto but no KZ gaara? These are my ninjas sir:

Try Gaara/Killer B/SNaruto. Gaara's barrier stays up now, so you could reset the field once every 3 turns (4 if you use Sand Hell). It works for me when I play Wind anyway, although the lack of Kage Gaara's Immobile hurts a lot.

You can still use Gaara, it will still work. The lack of skills may make your team suffer somewhat, but it is still usable and can work.

I use the normal gaara, sage naruto, bee sst lineup currently as an expendable team for matsuri together with azure fang. With regenerative healing jutsu, healing jutsu, 3rd chase, neurotoxin, poison tai and ninja dog/dog of hell works very nicely. Yes, you won't have the 40% boost for wind ninjas breeze dancers give but everything you do add poison and your main adds that lacking cc/interruption you currently suffer.
