The team itself is quite great. Damage is great, healing is great and the combos are great added to the debuffs such as Poison, Ignite, Paralyze and Immobilize. It works pretty good especially if your barrier is up giving you more buffs. For me, when I used the team, it simply did not work well even though I had my barrier up and even though I was stronger than my opponents.

You can beat the team by using the formation I have. You don't have to use the same ninjas but I've placed ninjas on each end because these Mabui, Mei, Gnw Tenten based teams usually occupy on end of the Tactics(?). So, that way you can iniatiate a combo on Mabui. Mabui is the key to this team as she provides a lot of chakara for the team. If you can kill her or lock her down at the end of round 1, just finish her off next round and you'll most likely win.

Mabui is the key to beat this team. If you can lock her down and get rid of her in round 2 you're good assuming that you and the other person have similar power difference
Since I run a root team, paralyze by tenten and round 1 is no problem for me but Scarlet's Illusion mystery works great for protection

  • Assuming similar power levels, this team can't be beat unless you have higher initiative and gain the barrier, there is a reason why it is called the water meta.

    To stand a chance of winning, you need satisfy 2 condition below:
    1. your action 1 ninja must be faster than mabui to shut her down in round 2
    2. you need to acupuncture water in round 1 after her turn so that she cant mystery heal in round 2

    Worth mentioning, Blitz team stand a chance to round 1 mabui depending on positioning.
    You also need some luck to avoid paralyze from tenten chase so that your combo is not broken, especially for danzo row lineups.
you could lock her round at round 1 after water main heals her up so that way you can kill her round 2 assuming you comboed or did enough damage to her in round 1
