Frankly, while you are still not very deep into it, it's super RNG. Only after going at it for a long time do you hit the law of large number which stabilize your income.
I have 130k practice point and have gotten 8 reds. Luckily, 7 of them are at least somewhat useful (1 ice 2 wood 4 sand)
Given that, it's not surprising at all for someone to get their first one between 5 and 50k practice point.

I don't understand why people use coin spent as a metric for this, unless you are OCD and take meticulous note, it is at best a rough estimate. Why do this when there is something that tracked the thing for you in the form of practice points?
