Kakashi taped his shiny, new, signed Icha Icha poster on the wall of his bedroom, deep in thought about what had transpired that day. The genin had struck up amicable conversation over his inert body while they finished their meal, commenting on the nice weather and predicting what would be in store for their next lesson. Even Midnight gave the occasional one-word remark, which seemed to make the others brighten up a bit, even if it was only to rebuke Scarlet or call him baka or aho.
‘Guess he doesn’t talk much... Well, what would you expect from a boy like that?’ That four pronged attack was pretty impressive though, even if it was strategically unwise. It seemed like the others had built their formation around Midnight’s sudden attack, which was good teamwork on their part. But if they continued as such then Midnight would think that he could do whatever he wanted and that the other genin would follow. While he would have liked to work on the lightning genin’s chidori, to do so would be to take him apart from the rest of his team, which was what he definitely did not want. And Kakashi still had no information on Scarlet, other then that his special technique was that fire dragon jutsu.‘It was powerful though! He must be adept in ninjutsu.’
So the two deviants were the add ons. No surprise, but that made things difficult. Maybe he should just dump them off on different teams, saying that he wasn’t a talented enough teacher to handle the boys… Something told him that wouldn’t fly with Iruka, though. Still, it wasn’t as though all was lost. If the ninja trainee teacher had said that the five would work well together, then he must’ve have seen something they all had in common…
He admired the poster on his wall. Who would have thought those kids would knock on his door, hours after they had all parted ways, and gifted him such an amazing thing?____________________________________________
“How did you get this!?” he had cried. They were super limited edition! There can’t have been more than a hundred posters in stock, and fans had come from all over to try to get one. They weren’t exactly cheap, either. Kakashi had been saving up for a month, and he just barely had enough before Scarlet robbed him blind. He couldn’t believe he hadn’t even realised it. The sneaky rascal must have taken advantage of the fact that he was focusing all his attention on protecting the bells.
“We all mph-!” Azure had announced before her mouth was quickly covered by Crimson’s hand. Breeze cleared her throat, speaking over the indignant muffles.
“We felt kinda bad about today, so think of this as a student to teacher welcome gift.”
“Sensei, I didn’t know you were that kind of guy,” Scarlet said, interested. Kakashi could practically feel the waves of mild judgement washing over him.
“Ehehehe…” he gave a sheepish smile, sweating bullets.
“Well, it doesn’t matter. Have a nice night, sensei,” Crimson said, dragging Azure off like a hostage. The rest quickly followed suit.
‘Huh. Wonder what she wanted to say.’
Midnight was the last to go. He silently regarded Kakashi for a moment, before saying,
“You better teach us a lot of cool stuff.”
The silver haired jounin gripped his new poster as he suddenly found himself alone.________________________________________
Kakashi snapped out of his thoughts as he heard a knock at the door.‘Must be Iruka!’ he thought, dashing out of his room and carefully shutting and locking the door behind him (You never knew to what lengths rabid fans would go), and down the stairs.
“Coming! That you, Iruka?”
“Who else would it be? You’re the one who called me out here in the dead of night,” Iruka’s irritable voice floated through the closed door.
“Iruka, what’s my favorite book series?”
“Those disgusting, vulgar Icha Icha novels, and yes, it’s really me.”
Kakashi opened the door, revealing the grumpy ninja trainee instructor, arms folded.
“Sorry about that, but you never know…”
“Kakashi, you don’t even have anything worth stealing.”
“You’ll never understand the inner mental workings of fans," Kakashi whispered darkly, "Some of them aren’t even human, I think.” Iruka gave him an incredulous look.
“What did you want me for, anyways?” He brushed past Kakashi into the house, plopping down on a chair in the living room. Kakashi settled into the chair facing him.
“...Can you tell me everything you know about Midnight Blade, Crimson Fist, Azure Fang, Breeze Dancer, and Scarlet Blaze?” Iruka stared at him for a moment, something registering in his eyes. Then, he suddenly roared with laughter. Kakashi pressed back into the chair, alarmed at the spasms of hilarity that s* his friend’s shoulders.
“What, what is it?? What’s so funny!?” Iruka was now laughing silently, bent double over his stomach, and slowly getting redder in the face as he was deprived of oxygen.
“OH! THAT’S-AHAHA! TOO GOOD! HAHAHAHA!! I! FORGOT THAT! HAHA!!! I GAVE YOU! HAHA THAT IMPOSSIBLE!!!! HAHAHA! TEAM!!!
UWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!” Kakashi’s panicked expression was slowly offset by a scowl.
“That’s right. You dumped them on me, so you have to at least give me some tips on how to deal with them,” he said, waiting for the guffaws to subside. Iruka wiped tears from his eyes.
“Yeah, sorry about that, but you know that you’re the most capable teacher. It only made sense to give the two problem students to you, but I also gave you the three best to balance it out. I’m surprised though! The great Kakashi didn’t learn a thing from his infallible, deceptively simple bell test?” Iruka joked, “So, what do you want to know?”
“To start off with, what are their strengths?”
“Hmm…” Iruka settled back into his seat, “Their strengths… There are many, as there are many weaknesses, but I’ll tell you the jist of it.
“Crimson Fist is an earth ninja who is excellent at taijutsu and close combat. His preferred goto attacks include konoha hurricane and petrifying jutsu, while his signature attacks are Stone Fist, Super Stone Fist, and Super Lightened Boulder Jutsu.
“Breeze Dancer specializes in wind, and is good at attacking multiple enemies, though it seems her multiple target attacks are most effective against up to four opponents. Her preferred attacks are Gust Dance and Gale Fan, and she is especially proficient at making clones. Her specialty jutsus are Hurricane, Giant Rasengan, and Dance of Impetus
“Azure Fang is probably the most well balanced of the five, in terms of attacks versus other moves. A water ninja accomplished in chakra moves, medical ninjutsu and poison, her preferred moves are Flowing Whip and Healing Jutsu. Specialty attacks include Poison Fog Wave, Super Shark Bomb, and Regenerative Healing Jutsu.
“Midnight Blade,” (Here Kakashi’s ears pricked up), by any rights, a prodigy. Isn’t it kinda su*ious how most of the prodigies in this village have been some form of lightning nin?” Iruka wrinkled his nose, narrowing his eyes at Kakashi. The silver haired instructor shrugged.
“The same as you and Sasuke, he is descended from an esteemed family of highly skilled assassins. As such, he is an expert in the way of the blade. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him without that sword of his. He has also learned to incorporate it into his chakra based attacks. Goto moves include Beam of Light and Lightning Assassination Sword. Special attacks are Lightning Sealing Slash, Chidori Blade- Shadow, and Lightning Armour. Along with being skilled in lightning style, he’s never gotten lower than 93% on any of his assessments.”
Iruka took a deep breath. Kakashi was impressed he had memorised all that, even if these particular genin were a step above the rest.
“Kakashi, you owe me.”
“I owe you nothing. You’re the one who dumped those kids on me in the first place.”
“It would have happened anyway.”
“Says who?”
“Says every teacher who agreed it was a good idea to put you with the most difficult ones, then thanked me profusely and invited me out to drinks with tears of gratitude in their eyes.”
“… Fine. I’ll treat you to one bowl of udon at Ichiraku’s. Now. The last genin…?” Iruka bowed his head, a mischievous grin dancing in the shadows on his face. This post was last edited by Goat_Kiddie911 at 2017-5-29 07:55
