If you are referring to sakura event that still required quite an investment of cash or coupons to get so hardly free.

If people had him for "free" they need to do a rollback and refund people as it wasnt intended.

It sounds like they dont test the things they roll out.

well it kinda makes sense those are exactly the kind of players that they want to pay for things big spenders they cant have them getting things for free cause of bug how they monetise them then. The funny thing is when it hits them in the wallet they can act fast they can do hotfixes and emergency maintenance to make changes .... when they want to do it.
