Cross server.

You are taking a big risk. I don't know who was the PR genius who told you to make a poll about wether we wanted it or not but he should het fired.

Since you actually ignored the vote of the players and went on with it anyways the reactions will be either mixed if you sorted out the distribution algorithm, or catastrophic if you didn't. Either way you don't win anything.

I'm not critizising cross server SWB, just the way it was handled. I have a couple of questions:

1.- How does the algorithm checks our power? is it current squad power or the maximum power we ever achieved?

2.- What is the "acceptable" BP difference between members of a given battlefield? Is there even one in place?

3.- How does the algorithm decides how many people will be in a battlefield (both maximum and minimum) ? Or does it simply fill it to a fixed number regardless of the BP difference between the strongest and weakest players?

4.- Are there brackets or is it like the arena?

If Oasis doesn't want its fanbase to feel cheated they should at least give us these details! Again i'm amazed at how incompetent the PR department of Oasis is.

Finally i thought i would end this post by saying that this is NOT the fault of the moderators (daiske, Acer1, etc.). They do not have this information, even if they did they do not necessarily have the authorization to disclose it. However please try to find out and give us this info. It would probably calm the *storm that will hit the forums, if only by a little.

PS. If there ever was a week to release GNW Sakura it would have been this week. Again, i don't know who makes the decisions but it would be in the best interest of tencent and Oasis as a company to show him the door. Such incompetence truly.

  • I don't think you guys understand, it was content they have to add because the updates come from China and have to be added to our version eventually, they can hold off on adding certain things but eventually Cross server sage was always going to be added. Despite the Mods many attempt to say "Our version is different" If you understand anything about game development for these sorts of games, that's how it works.

What was * though is Oasis making a poll about a feature that is mandatory, not optional.
Why they thought this was a good idea I don't know, it was bad business sense to try and gain good points with the players making them think they have a choice when they do not.

Now then, what I want to know is how does the matchmaking work, if you are say level 65, are you going to be put into a Sage event with all the other level 60 players from other servers? What sort of level range do we have to think about? Also if there is say a low level player with an unusually high amount of power, will he still be matched by level? Exactly!

We still have a glimmer of hope that this cross server SWB will be good. Its a longshot, speciallly when you factor in the previous cross server events. But hey you never know.

What baffles me is how this was handled. Amateurism doesn't even cover it!

And we have no official statement from Oasis on any of this. At least during the Ariesteaus gate we had an official statement. It was poorly done, but hey at least we had something. They show no respect to the community or the players and its the guys who manage the forums who take all the heat.

Ok people, lets get something straight here.

1.- cross server SWB is better than no SWB.

2.- The majority of players complaining about cross server SWB or stating their dissatisfaction is beacause we were ASKED and given the illusion that our opinion MATTERED. Thus the obvious backlash. Even if this ends up being good in the end (which still remanins to be seen, but i will reserve judgement on that till after experiencing it) the strong dislike was to be expected.

3.- Stating how smart you are compared to others because you did not follow the backlash wave, then proposing changes that seem oh so easy to implement and so obvious to add is laughable. It makes you look arrogant and condescending.

4.- Any significant changes in these type of algorithms, although the may seem easy to add, can be a nightmare to code. Depending on how the game code was written and the aount of data handled they could need a complete revamp of significant portions of the code.

So please, although suggestions are always helpfull, dont insult the rest of the community.

They really are going strong with SN rebates. Well that's a good thing.

PraiseLuka, fair enough. I'm also a programmer (though without too much experience) and honestly don't think that the game was coded in such a smooth and logical manner. Either that or Oasis devs do not have the authority to tweak the code at all. Otherwise i don't see why oh why they wouldn't implement so many obvious fixes that the community has been claiming for. The latter option would raise a bigger issue which is that each time a suggestion thread has been posted in the customer service section the mods say that they give the information to the devs and see if it can be fixed/implemented. If Oasis can't touch the code then it raises a whole other number of issues. So i give them the benefit of the doubt and assume the original code is not properly written with object having a class and a set of attributes.

The way they announced corss server SWB as if it as just another thing is undefendable (not sure if this is english). Would it have killed them to make a statement saying:"

Hey we did a poll and you voted no. But we are forced to implement this. We changed things so that it can be enjoyable taking into account your suggestions and concerns. Give us feedback after trying it and se how it goes".

4 sentences that would have calmed over 50% of the people currently coplaining, just by the fact that they aknowledged their opinion. This is basic PR.

However it seems that Oasis doesn't think that a PR department is necessary for a company (or Tencent. looking at the way other Tencent properties, ie Qidan international, goes about their business in the chinese webnovel market it may very well come from them).

  • Stating it that way is like telling someone "My * boss is forcing me to do this, but I'd like to help you so I did what I could." I'm sure that would make people feel better, but they might get in trouble. Just throwing the people above them under the bus like that isn't always that simple.
That's not what i meant. We know we are following China, even if we don't openly say it at least everyone can agree that there is a gameplan.

Saying that the future updates require cross server SWB is not throwing their supperiors under the bus. It's a matter of fact since the game is coded this way, its no ones fault really. What matters is that they don't communicate at all.

Saying that the forums are proof that Oasis listens is completely false. It only shows you have a platform that you c*e, wether you do it or not remains to be seen. The information can be lost in the chain of command because someone decided that the info was not pertinent, even if the moderators do their job and send it to their supperiors.

In short, communicate more. The fact that you now announce events and what is going to be sold in the daily specials is a big step in the right direction. But if you truly want to dissipate the lack of trust the players have against the game then they should post a statment as to why they go against the will of the majority of the players. Why are we still discussing corss server SWB? because all the arguments as to why it happened are conjectures. We don't know the official reason and given the track record of Oasis and the Aristeaus gate, not many are willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

The help sakura thing is good if you go for Darui. You can get him for around 3k coupons plus you would be very close to the 1000 points.

If you lack some minato fragments its also good since it costs around 150k coupons per fragment which is decent (why would you go for minato is an entirely different matter ;P).

So the sakura thing is not as bad as it seems. Same for the cave keys they go for around 10 coupons a key. Seals and refines on the other hand have horrendous value.

PS. I think that the purification runes are also good value

When it rains, it pours. Half the community is already raging about cross server SWB and now it seems some of them (HK) won't even be able to take part in it until sunday ;P.

Man these have been some toxic 24 hrs.

The main problem witht his cross server sage is the INSANE amount of people per battlefield!

Can't they reduce the number of players to 30? it would equilibrate things a lot. If this is not possible they whould at least increase the rewards range. Only 9 people out of 75 get advanced refines? really? they will become just as hard to get as advanced thread! Specially since many servers could start sage on their own.

Please increase the advanced refines to top 7 of each group at least. Otherwise cut by half the total number of participants in each battlefield.

As it stands it will be catastrophic in the short run and its possible that people will just stop entering sage at all. But the solutions are there and it could still turn out to be a good event.
