Hi everyone, this is Nova from S15.
I'm glad to see more and more new players in this game. Therefore, I would like to create this thread to help all new AF players.
In this thread, I will talk about ninja selection, formation, how to allocate resources, and other strategies.
This thread is based on free-play or micro-investment, however, it would also be helpful for p2w players.

All right let's get started

I. Why Azure Fang?

Yes, AF is a 16 years old cute girl, and this can be one of the most important reasons to play AF. But is it really a good class to play?

Azure Pros:
Good Healing, poison stack (Damage over time, or DOT), great crowd control (CC)

Azure Cons:
No burst dmg, rely on main

If you like CC and DOT, enjoy killing your enemies slowly and painfully, then AF is the correct choice.
For now just keep this in mind, I will explain in details later.

II. Things to know on your first day.

Now you just entered a new server as AF. Follow the main plot and get familiar with this game.

If you are free players, keep these suggestions in mind.

Coupon: Coupon is a very important currency. Spend ALL of your coupons on MAGATAMA ONLY. Don't waste a single coupon on anything else.

Seal Scroll: Don't use any seal scroll, only do free draws. Save ALL your seal scrolls until 50.

Coins: always Maximize group daily donation first.

III. Talent, Formation, and Ninja Selection.

http://forum.naruto.oasgames.com/en/forum.php?mod=image&aid=1408&size=300x300&key=34a96f79fcf938d5&nocache=yes&type=fixnonehttp://forum.naruto.oasgames.com/en/forum.php?mod=image&aid=1409&size=300x300&key=75aa6eafd0624b1f&nocache=yes&type=fixnone
This is the most important talents for AF.
Neurotoxin has translation error. It should be "Cause Immobile to target if you launched a critical attack".
Notice that Chakra Blade has 100% critical hit
Immobile = can't normal attack + can't ult + can't chase + interruption

Therefore, your first CC formation is
http://forum.naruto.oasgames.com/en/forum.php?mod=image&aid=1411&size=300x300&key=7f6d1335d3ab9723&nocache=yes&type=fixnone
(change normal attack to healing if you can)

http://forum.naruto.oasgames.com/en/forum.php?mod=image&aid=1410&size=300x300&key=a1da0a4c4fd75d70&nocache=yes&type=fixnone

AF ult knocks down, AF chase -> immobile
Sasuke ult knocks down, AF chase -> immobile

naruto combo: low float -> Sasuke repulse -> sakura high flow

This formation doesn't have long combo chain, but it is incredible in CC.

If you have Garra, you can replace naruto

http://forum.naruto.oasgames.com/en/forum.php?mod=image&aid=1412&size=300x300&key=323361f59b133d3e&nocache=yes&type=fixnone

So why we put AF at 1st order?
Because the order is very important.
let's say your AF is 1st order in your formation, your target is 2nd order in his formation. When both of you are using skills at the same time, you will do it earlier.

A short conclusion: Always make sure that ninjas in the 1st and 2nd order in your formation can initiate CC combo chain using ult with 2 round CD.

This formation is good until you got Kakashi. (free ninja)

Kakashi + Garra + Kabuto (from survival shop)
http://forum.naruto.oasgames.com/en/forum.php?mod=image&aid=1413&size=300x300&key=bbe3956acd2b5228&nocache=yes&type=fixnonehttp://forum.naruto.oasgames.com/en/forum.php?mod=image&aid=1414&size=300x300&key=aa65b54445c75af5&nocache=yes&type=fixnone

Same idea, using AF and Kakashi to initiate CC combo. This formation has better combo and healing. Kabuto's summon c*so absorb a lot of damage. Garra only cost $1. If you don't have Garra, replace him with whoever you want.

another formation is 3-star naruto + Sasuke + Hinata
http://forum.naruto.oasgames.com/en/forum.php?mod=image&aid=1418&size=300x300&key=1e6e8fc75b9f33e6&nocache=yes&type=fixnone
http://forum.naruto.oasgames.com/en/forum.php?mod=image&aid=1415&size=300x300&key=7358c89831daa7b3&nocache=yes&type=fixnone
http://forum.naruto.oasgames.com/en/forum.php?mod=image&aid=1416&size=300x300&key=c97a75e90ee9ad47&nocache=yes&type=fixnonehttp://forum.naruto.oasgames.com/en/forum.php?mod=image&aid=1417&size=300x300&key=8ca2b533ba8600a8&nocache=yes&type=fixnone

In this formation, you got two front lines: naruto + Hinata (and naruto's copy).
you got two initiators naruto + Sasuke (round 1 Sasuke barrier, round 2 naruto ult, round 3 Sasuke ult, round 4 naruto ult + Sasuke barrier, etc)
you got AF for healing
you got tons of debuff: paralyze, immobile, ignite, acupuncture

This formation is good until lv55.
At lv 55, you got your last passive: Poison Tai
When your ninjas deal Taijutsu damage, apply poison
keep in mind that poison can stack. the max poison damage is 3k I think.

Now your strategy is: CC your foes, interrupt their skills, stack poison, and watch them die.

I would like to introduce the most important ninja at this period: Ninja War Kiba

He can initiate combos, with either normal attack or ult.
His ult deals AOE Taijutsu dmg (apply poison)
He is a good front line (high HP&defend growth, with a clone)
his chase can hit 3 targets (AOE apply poison)
He is free (check in 10 times this month, 2016/8)

If you are watching this guide in September or later. well, may God bless you?

I will introduce multiple formations, pick one you like the most.

1. Kiba Kimimaro. summon: Gamachu (or Gamaken). The Tough Frontlines

The 4th member is optional, you c*e anyone you like. Here I use tenten for example.
Initiator: Kiba + Kimimaro
Poison stacker: Kiba Kimimaro Tenten, all of their ults are AOE Taijutsu
This formation has tough frontlines. Both Kiba and Kimimaro can soak lots of dmg.

Alternatives for tenten:
Sakura: more healing, can chase repulse
Kurenai: Mirror reture, anti cc. Shield, protect your AF if she is focused. (From Arena shop)
Guy: Taijutsu buff, healing, interruption. (From elite instance)
or others you like

Notice that the summon is required, otherwise, you can't chase repulse. Gamachu takes about 5 days to capture.

2. Kiba Sasuke. Summon: Gamachu or Gamaken. The combo fire/poison team

This is my current formation.

Let's look at these combos.
Kiba ult repulse (poison) -> gamaken knock down (poison) ->AF high flow (poison+immobile) -> sasuke low float (paralize, high combo) -> sasuke repulse -> gamaken knowdown again (poison) -> Kiba 10 combo (AOE poison) -> Sasuke 10 combo (AOE ignite) -> Iruka 10 combo (poison)
9 in total.

Ignite works great with poison. (ignite prevent healing) This formation has HUGE DOT.

Since Iruka is a paid only ninja, you c*e several alternatives:
Kurenai: reflection + shield
Tenten: Chase 10 combo, provide crit buff to team
Kankuro (Ninja war Kankuro is better): ult AOE poison, tank
Hinata: Chase, Acupuncture, tank
Karin: more poison, healing
Deidara: Chase, ignite, ult damage all ignited (need lucky on drawing)
or any ninjas you like

You may also have other ninjas from drawing. Therefore, you can build your own formation.
Here is a checklist to help you build your own team.

Important:
Do I have 2 initiators?
Are my initiators placed in the 1st and 2nd order?
Can I initiate combo every round?
Is CC included in my combo? (AF's chakra blade)
Do I have enough AOE Taijutsu for poison stacking?

Optional:
Do I want ignition?
Can I provide enough protection to AF?
Do I want 2 front lines to soak normal attack?
Do I need more healing/cleanse?
Can I use any ninjas who can buff my team?
Do I need interruption?

By using this checklist, you should be able to form a great team.

Exchange Shop

These are ninjas you may want from shop.

Group shop: Karin
Arena shop: Kurenai
Ranked: Sai (may need for ninja exam)
Survival shop: Kabuto, Suigetsu (world boss)

Elite Instance

Ninjas that may be helpful:
level 20s: naruto, sasuke
level 30s: tenten (world boss), haku (world bboss), kankuro, Ukon
level 40s: Sai, Jugo, Suigetsu, Karin, Kurenai
level 50s:Zabuza, Kimimaro,

World Boss formation:

As water, we can't do as much dmg to world boss as wind/fire/lightning.
Just do as much as you can.

If you can't survive normal attack, use naruto.
If you have windblade Asuma, replace tenten.

Equipment refine:
At level 40, you can refine your equipment to increase your initiative and other stats.
As a CC based formation, initiative extremely important. Once you have full lv3 magatama, spend all your coupons on refining.
You don't need to refine every single gear. Focus on your 1st and 2nd order ninjas. Make sure they have high initiative so you can CC your foes before they hurt you. For example, in my case, I want to refine Kiba and Sasuke's gear first. I can even ignore my AS and Iruka because I don't need them to initiate.

I hope this is enough to be helpful. Enjoy the game
Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

  • any tips till we reach the lvl for healing ? or keep using the first one with naruto , saske , sakura formation
if you are free-player you don't really have many options. Use this formation until you get your free Kakashi

  • i feel uneasy with the main being infront, wouldn't your main die easily in this formation? Or main could be placed in #4, gaara in #6, kakashi in #7, kabuto in #9?
it works. now your Garra is the 2nd order, so try to use him to initiate combo at round 3.

  • i got 2 questions now: (because i'm really rreally interested in the formation :D )

    1. Why do you need kakashi to be in the 2nd move? I think his mystery is prompt so even he is 4th you can just activate it right away? (or i am wrong about the prompt thing?)

    2. How can you tell which of the enemy's ninjas should you prioritize in paralyzing?
let's say you are facing lightning main who has higher initiative than you (assumption).
he is in 3rd order, your Kakashi is also in 3rd order.
His ult is prompt as well, which can paralyze your entire team.
so if you ult first ,then he is CCed and interrupted.
If he ult first, then your entire team are paralyzed.

So what happen when prompt vs prompt?
First, compare order. Since both of you are 3rd order, move one.
Then, compare initiative. He is higher than you, so he will ult faster than your Kakashi.

If your Kakashi is in your 2nd order, then you will always be faster than him (3rd order), regardless initiative.
That's why the order is so important

For your second question, it is all about your battle experience. Play more arena you will know.
Generally speaking, target initiator/CCer first.

Again, lightning main.
He can paralyze your team, and also initiate combo. therefore, you will want to take him down first.

  • i get it now, so the counter for the formation will be midnight blade on move 1. That's when the MB has the highest initiative
right, 1st order MB counters almost all combo team at early game. Just cross your fingers and hope your 1st order ninja (usually your AF) has higher initiative then him.

  • Gonna add another formation for the poison Kiba team.http://puu.sh/qBuGj/d578b60126.jpg
This team has all the necessary debuffs to the enemy. Poison, Ignite, Accupuncture, Immobile

Both Kiba and Guy has the same initiation of repulse, meaning you'll always get consistent combos.
    https://puu.sh/qBuKt/37cc503247.jpg---
    http://puu.sh/qBvcd/7f3d3d9b3b.jpg

Kiba's 10 hit combo will come afterwards after a few normal hits.

Guy's buff can be very helpful.
However, there is still 1 issue. your initiators are at 2nd and 3rd place, which might be too slow.
Let's say I put Kiba at 1st place and kimimaru at 2nd place. My Kiba will be always faster than your Kiba, and my kimimaru will be always faster than your guy, regardless initiative.
Order Matters.

  • How do you feel about this Setup any good? P.S. Will have Jugo soon so he can buff my Sound Ninjas and give them a Shield.

If you want a cursed team, I would highly recommend Jugo + Ukon + Kimimaro

you got 2 initiators at 1st and 2nd place.
you got AOE for poison and ignite in combo
Jugo can shield everyone except AF

round 1: Jugo ult (shield)
round 2: Jugo release, initiate combo. Ukon ult, apply poison and reduce defense
round 3: Kimimaro ult, initiate combo.
round 4: Jugo ult, Ukon ult. No combo initiated this round, but your foes should be almost dead.
etc

  • hey! first of all, thanks for this amazing thread! was a little stuck with AF until i read your thread and managed to get her going again! thanks!

just a few questions because i'm really new to the game, by using coins to maximize group contributions first, does that give you better stats overall compared to strengthening your equips?

also, i have a couple of seal scrolls lying around, saw your advice on keeping them until lv50. What do we get from seal scrolls at lv50?

Appreciate your help on these questions please, thanks a millions!
Group skills give you more stats than strengthening. Therefore, you need to invest on contribution for group skills first. Strengthen your gears only if you got extra coins.

Or, you can just maximize the first 5 group skills first. (HP, attack, defense, ninjutsu, resistance). The other 4 are not that important.

At level 50, you got Tendo Treasure. It gives better ninjas than normal seal treasure. (the Pains)

  • What about kankuro tank, is it ok or ? (i like puppeteers :D:D)
Also if i do group donations first i dont have money to strenghten my eq. Isnt this important too?
This post was last edited by boj***@gmail.com at 2016-8-15 17:35
I never used kankuro as the main tank. You can try it in the arena first. Just make sure you got 2 initiators and you should be fine.

Theoretically, group skills give more stats than strength. maximize the first 5 group skills first, then go strengthening.

Tail naruto is tough to fight in early game because his ignition counters healing. All I can say is to ignore him and aim other ninjas first, such as their main, Kakashi, Sasuke, etc.

  • If I'm running this team, where should I line up? My main is using Water Style - Super Shark Bomb, Taijutsu, Water Style- Shark Bomb, Neurotoxin (Or Water Enhancement), and I just hit 55. So Poison Tai or Water Clone.

Ninja War Kiba is your best friend when you are lv55.
To be honest, your formation is not good because you abandoned your advantage as water main (AOE poison.
However, if you really like these ninjas, it still works.

For talent and summon, use poison Tai and Gamachu. Poison Tai deals tons of dmg, try it.
Kakashi and main should stand behind Neji, Suigetsu can stand at the back of the bottom line.

Round 1: make sure your Neji target the correct enemy.
Round 2: main ult initiate combo
Round 3: Neji ult, then Kakashi ult initiate combo

looks good, however, put Hinata 1st can be risky because you will lose priority.

  • Poison dot damage is too low to outpace the devastation suffered by your team from a team focused on single target burst damage, is easily countered by the aoe cleanses which will become more prevalent, her heal is lower than the AoE damage from most characters and can't protect against the highest damage from burst and can't be used under many conditions. In addition AF lacks the all important revive that every healer should have but doesn't in this game.
I really hate that each character is tied to a single element. I want to take the Azure Fang character but use the move sets from the lightning, fire or earth mains. The game needs to be changed so that we choose our characters and move sets seperately, then retroactively let everyone choose their skills.

Right, I agree that poison alone can easily be countered by cleanse or burst damage. However, Poison + strong CC can be perfect. This is why I always suggest to put initiators in 1st and 2nd place. Always immobile their DPS or healer before they can make any trouble.

  • Why great war kiba? How does he fit into the whole scheme? I didn't like regular kiba
regular kiba sux.

NW Kiba is good because
1. He has a 2-round cd prompt ult to initiate combo
2. His normal attack can know down,
3. he has good HP growth, his clone has high HP. Therefore, he is a good frontline.
4. His ult is AOE, which is good to apply poison
5, His chase is also AOE, good for poison
6. He is free

IDK about other class, but for water, Kiba works perfectly.

bad. you won't have extra chakra to use his mystery.
