Hello, I'm pretty sure that everytime you level up you get a message that says you got a bonus of experience points and coins, I got that message however I didn't get the experience (and the coins probably but i don't remember how much i had before leveling up).
I was with a team of two other people at the time of leveling up if it means anything, I think it happened to me once before while also being part of a team when i leveled up.
