  • However, this version is just a franchise, which is run differently by a different management.

Like how all franchises work. You get to choose how you want to release your content (as long as its still possibly in line with China/Taiwan), how you want to earn your profits, but the big owner still gets a cut. So its doesn't matter how China/Taiwan, etc earns on their own, that's their cut. Oasis do not get their cut. Oasis is separate from them. Oasis earn their own, and possibly have to give part of their own cut to the original owners.

Just like maybe a fast food chain. You get the franchise to sell that product. How you want to run that restaurant is up to you. Wages to your staff, duty roster, etc is all up to you. As long as the recipe and menu is the same.
so what you are basically saying is that someone some random Joe (oasis in this case) decided ''rent'' someone elses mmo and they don't actually own the game they just do business with it, like how some people run shops with borrowed goods, they run a borrowed mmo. correct me if I am wrong

one more thing that last example doesn't really count in case of oasis as they don't even want to release the content in the first place let alone in what order.

Don't quote me on it. However, looking at the picture this is how I understand it to be, I maybe completely wrong, but unless a member of staff comes to explain or clarify it, this is my personal opinion of how I'm seeing it.

The game itself belongs to Bandai Namco.
Naruto Online US/EU/HK is under Oasis Games Limited.
Naruto Online CN is under a joint partnership of Tencent, Cyberconnect2, & More Fun Studio.
So Oasis Games Limited, Tencent/Cyberconnect2/More Fun Studio are the franchise owners, or in relation to words you used, "renters", or even if they are not franchise owners, they may be considered Subsidiaries. Each subsidiary can decide how they want to run the game, or release the content, or hold content.

Using the fast food example again. Think KFC, its international. But if you've travelled around, the KFC menu in Singapore & Malaysia, South Korea, & Glasgow (I'm sure about other countries, but I'm sure of these ones), they actually have almost similar menus but they are not identical. There are items on that menu that are present in some countries but not in others. At the end of the day, its still under the KFC name. Just like Naruto Online, its still under that same name, but the different groups can decide however they wish to run the game.

If you feel that it doesn't count as a valid example. How about think of Bandai Namco as the Parent company similar to the Volkswagen Group. Then think of the Oasis Games Limited & Tencent/Cyberconnect2/More Fun Studio as the subsidiary such as Audi, SEAT, Volkswagen, Porsche, Bugatti (just to name of a few). Each subsidiary can choose how they run their own business and how they want to market it, and how they want to price it, but they are all under the umbrella of the Volkswagen Group. This is a very layman example, as they are of course a lot of complicated than that. This post was last edited by JeremyKohBS at 2017-4-3 20:15

I understand where he comes from and I wanted to say that it should be an even balance between paying players and free 2 play players.

Well, Franchise or not, if oasgames wants to take on the franchise, then they are responsible for it.

Of course, you could pity them for having a contract under a franchise, but then you should also pity the whales paying the game a much higher markup than for other non-franchised games. And you would have pity the regular players having to end up playing an inferior product with many bus and translation errors in it. And you'd have to have pity to osgames for having a very large PR budget that does not include communicating with existing players, and so on...

What I probably pity the most, is the p2w players who will find out that their money to the game basically make their game lasts until the f2p players are gone to newer servers (because these f2p have nothing to do on those servers) and the paid players end up being merged to even older servers.

The fact that so many servers need to be merged, means that, at some point, f2p players got too little to continue to play on those servers. That's sad, because it means that Oasis is losing lots of potential income, AND it makes a bad name for their franchise partners, for making franchise rules that makes franchise takers losing money.
