New servers aren't the problem - they're good because each new server will draw in a few new players that * with it. However, server merges need to be completed more frequently so those that enjoy the game can continue to do so since by the time a new server starts getting to the 80s they tend to start dying off. Oasis announced that they're putting more focus on merges. :)
Actually, new servers are a problem. It spreads the playerbase way too thin across all servers, making even the few months old servers seem like graveyards, which doesn't really inspire people to * around on those servers or in the game itself.
Allowing the servers to populate properly incentivices the players to * around and keeps the competitive events going and the state of the servers healthy. In addition, it allows for the merging of servers to be the absolute last resort when the population dips to unhealthy levels, and not be the bandaid procedure that needs to be repeated constantly.
However, I'm not saying they should completely stop releasing new servers, just limit them to 1 per month (or two if facing severe overpopulation) for those who seek the rush of the leveling experience again or a new start.
