You do have to understand that Oasis is only a publisher. A publisher is only allowed to do, what developers allow them to do.

The point of polls system is only to finding out priority in which things will be added into the game. If something is met with really negative feedback it also gives them time to actually discuss things with the developer. That being said in F2P MMO region, it's very rare for developers to give any freedom to the publisher.
Though it does seem they already have more permissions than most publishers do, so I guess it's not that bad.
