While I would support compensation to those affected, I don't think greedy request that ask for over-compensation helps the matter any. If anything, it will just put them off, because the greedy deserves nothing.

But then again, there is a good chance that most of them don't play the game and therefore does not realize that the request is greedy because they have no idea what people should get....

I do agree with you. (especially the greedy part) But I believe if should they ever give compensation, they would most likely consult the mods first before issuing them out. The mods do play the game and is someone they trust. So I believe it would at least be reasonable and not take players suggestion for the amount like these.
