They really made the raise of the level cap pointless by allowing the storing of experience.
Discarding the excess experience would've allowed for the content to be spread more evenly and the players get slightly more mileage out of it. It would've invigorated the players by introducing the race to the level cap to grab the benefits of being higher leveled before the powerbase normalizes.
Future level cap increases really should also be accompanied by events similar to the new server ones where power and level are tracked to add a competitive aspect to the cap increase. Also, as whales tend to like staying on top, events like this gives them incentive to put more money into the game.
