While I agree Mei & Sage Naruto are particularly annoying due to being abnormally capable by themselves, you'll just have to wait for future characters that can counter them.

I've beaten several Mei teams in Arena with a simple Hinata, Sasuke & Sai team as Lightning main and I have beaten Sage Naruto teams as well.

But it's true that more often than not, unless you have other Kage Ninja or rare ninja in general, you are definitely going to get destroyed if those characters have any actual support in a team, Mabui, Killer Bee etc.

Basic Ninjas have their limits no matter how you spin it, but you can certainly do impressive things with them.
