The auto barriers are based entirely on your team initiative combined - the higher the initiative,the higher chance their field will go second (a good thing, it will override the other field).

The order of pre-match buffing is based on the order you first place your team. When you place your team, always place your clone-summoners first (regardless of position) so they summon their clones before the buffers enhance our team.
