Empress as it were won't work as well now, but that doesn't mean a girl (or 2+main girls) team won't work.
The main's shield gets applied every turn, which means in longer game, it actually give MORE shield.
The main cleanses, thus eliminating the need for karin cleanse, so you have more flexibility
The team doesn't have to be all girl, thou queen's momentum still benefit from a 4th, having 3 girl will guarantee on whom the shield and cleanse land on. So you could have one male ninja (ideally, playboy sasuke, but that's kinda ptw)

So as it were, probably no, but you can build something around it.
