Double means that the number of steps you rolled will be twice. I believe it has always been this way.

Landing on "double" "free" "start" or any of the tiles that do not give rewards, give u 10 points instead of 5.
The "double" tile itself doubles the next roll of your dice.

Has been this way for all the lucky boards.

Thank you for the response. I was surprised to see that happen because i don't remember that happening previous times. When i landed on, say, Jiraiya, after landing on doubled, it would say I got two of his fragments, but maybe it just said so and I didn't really get two, I didn't pay attention to that too much. But I am certain that the number of steps weren't doubled.

And by not paying attention too much I mean not going in the inventory to check, because I had no reason for doing so.
