Someone posted in events that if u are challenge and the person loses it counts for a win for u, also depending where u are ranked u can fight someone weaker then u for wins. It wont down rank u for going for a weaker enemy. I think people overreact to quick before even seeing how it will be.

Yes this very good points. Too quick players are to COMPLAIN when things are given free. They think they now better than mods/developers who are doing their best on game to be fun for all. Instead of whining players should use brains to find easy solutions.

For this, I've pretty much just decided to say screw ranked and put all my low-power people in place so that I can be pushed far down the line and then just beat low-power people. Because I want coupons more than I want ranked points.

Well, just do it like this.

Make a deal with a player that's behind you in ranked.

1st, he attacks 10 times, retreats (you get 10 wins).
2nd, he (that's the price) pays 10 coupons to attack and WIN you (or you if you deal with a player in front of you)
3rd, you're now behind him, and you attack and retreat 10 times.

it doesnt work. I have tried with my friend. It doesnt count toward the event

Problem with that is the defending frm is the last frm that the defender attacked with, which means it will have to be "escalating". So first a person would poke something with just 1 character on, the the other one beat him with 2 character, then 3, 4 etc.
Even if it all goes well and the RNG don't f stuff up, this requires minimal of 11 fights each, if each player take care of one of the "reset"
