If you carry on opening new servers at the same rate eventually every existing server will need to be merged as there is no players coming to old servers but people quitting all the time -

However, I'm going to quote Yuusuke's post here:

I am just curious about this many time thing. All I remember reading was how others were angry/upset and mocking on all those new server opening threads and how no mods replied on those (except closing all those new server opening announcement threads).
So, was curious if I missed any interesting threads. And, still hoping for those threads where this issuse has been addressed, just one of those 'many times' will do.

I cant remember this being discussed at all , usually what happened they d open a thread about new servers every 3 days players start complaining then thread gets locked and there was 1 post by mod saying how there is a super secret special reason why they are opening more servers and its not what you think and they wont tell you what it is.
