I am sorry but there is no way. It says when you want to fuse it what gets the exp after the fuse.
While I now know how the fuse works and have never made a mistake, it is NEVER clearly explained. (one would assume that if you drag A onto B, then B will eat A, which is true for most cases, but rarity is supreme, which is NOT explained)
And who read the pop up? You know the story of the boy who cry wolf? Yeah, that's how the fuse is, every single fuse, even insignificant ones, requires confirmation, over time, people have stopped paying attention to it. And frankly, the thing is in very bad grammar, took me a while to understand what it's actually saying the first time I read it (specifically the direction of the fuse which is the important bit)
If you want to blame stuff on the player, you have to design a better system first.
