Increasing your battle power has a lot to do with your overall experience. Do your best to get to the highest ninja exam level that you can achieve - search the forums and youtube. There's a lot of guides there. Maxing ninja exam (in your capabilities) allows you to upgrade your equipment and you'll get bonus coins and experience by sweeping each day.

You should make sure you're doing all your daily missions. Ninja tools from Team Instances influences a lot of your battle power.

If you're not in a group already, find one and donate! You'll find group skills to be invaluable. Maxing them out will help you out incredibly - donate enough but don't forget to strengthen your equipment. I prioritized on maxing donations and used the left over coins for strengthening. If your server can beat Kuruma then you'll find it a lot easier.

Mood scrolls will help you out but you'll find that they'll come to you organically. Work on getting your main team to lvl 5 first.

If you haven't maxed out group skills or your equipment I wouldn't focus on eight inner gates. Maybe put a rune in each available slot but don't worry too much about it.

Cloths and threads are great assets so just do your best to complete strong approach, if you follow guides you should be able to complete it in difficult in a few attempts.

Take advantage of events that feature all of these materials + refinement runes and purification runes. All of these combined raise your battle power substantially. Use your coupons wisely, your main focus should be equipment strengthening/upgrading, group skills and when there's events featuring power materials focus on them. Events like Lucky Board are excellent for battle power, and you also get points towards ninjas!

Oh and tactics! If you have any coupons leveling it up a few levels would be a good idea - your power will go up a fair bit.
